unknown The European Sunday Alliance welcomes its newest supporter the European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CESI). The European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CESI) is a confederation of 38 trade union organisations from 21 European countries and 4 European trade union organisations, with a total of more than 5 million individual members. 2 further trade union organisations enjoy observer status. Founded in 1990, CESI advocates improved employment conditions for workers in Europe and a strong social dimension in the EU.

European Day for a Work-Free Sunday: Call for Action!

Sunday’s special and an essential pillar of the European social model. However, the latest European Working Condition Survey indicates that more and more EU citizens have to work on this day. The European Sunday Alliance therefore launched today, on the European day of work-free Sunday, a call to action to show the need for a common EU-wide regulation.

Work-Life Balance 4.0 – Challenges in a time of digitalisation

Digitalisation is changing our society in many ways. How it impacts our relationship between work and personal time was at the centre of discussion of the third European Sunday Alliance conference on 15 November 2016. Under the heading “Work-life balance 4.0 – Challenges in a time of digitalisation”, more than 100 participants examined the risks, but also opportunities of the digital shift and expressed the need for proper labour regulation at EU level. Anytime, anywhere – resolution for a better work-life-balance and synchronized free time in the age of digitalization

At its conference on 15 November, "Work-Life-Balance 4.0 - Challenges in a time of digitalisation", the European Sunday Alliance opened a resolution for better work-life balance and the synchronization of free time in the digital age.

The resolution calls for action at the European level, promotes sustainable and decent working hours including the right to be unavailable, supports an EU digital market that balances flexibility and security, and finally calls for synchronized free time and a common day of rest so that all in Europe may enjoy sports, cultural and family life, spiritual well-being and volunteer work.

2016/11/15 On 15^th November 2016 the European Sunday Alliance organized its third European conference this time on “Work-Life-Balance 4.0 – Challenges in a time of digitalisation” at the European Economic and Social Committee. During the day over 100 participants discussed how digitalisation will impact all aspects of our lives and how a healthy work-life-balance can be secured.

On this occasion the European Sunday Alliance also launched a Resolution for a better work-life-balance and synchronized free time in the age of digitalisation. The Resolution is aimed at activating civil society and politicians to use the opportunities for a better work-life-balance and to limit the risks created by digitalisation for the benefit of all European citizens. The Resolution is still open for signature.
