Congratulations! The 20th of June will be a histroic day for the sunday movement in Europe. Now we are able to have a strong voice to declare an reach our common aims on European level. Unfortunately I cannot take part in the foundation meeting, but a new way to a Social Europe is going on.

German scientific findings confirm the detrimental effects of Sunday work on workers’ health

 

According to Professor Dr. Friedhelm Nachreiner, Institute for Psychology of the University of Oldenburg (friedhelm.nachreiner@uni-oldenburg.de), the available data suggests that Sunday work in particular has a negative impact on workers’ health.

In 2007, research results from the University of Duisburg also demonstrated a clear link between working on Sundays on the one hand and increased illness and absenteeism of workers on the other hand (see Kümmerling, Arbeiten wenn andere frei haben, 2007, Table 5[2])
